Microsoft has two types of partitions in their operating systems, MBR and GPT. MBR which stands for Master Boot Record is an old technology which only allows you to create 4 Primary Partitions. Remember you can’t create all of them as Primary Partition I mean 3 of them is Primary and 1 is extended partition. Another bad feature of MBR is that it is limited to 2 TB, more than that you are not able to use. For Example if you have 3TB hard drive 2 TB will be used and 1TB will remain unallocated.
GPT which stands for GUID Partition Table is the new technology. Latest Laptops and Desktops all come with GPT partition. Comparing GPT to MBR it has no storage limitation, also you are not limited to number of the partition. While Installing with GPT the USB must be booted with United Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI).
For this post I will show you 3 methods How to Convert GPT to MBR? The first two options will lose all of your data. So I need you to take backup of your files on an external Hard Drive. For this Post I have created a VHD and I have partitioned it to GPT.
But the last option is performed by third party software that is not built-in on windows 10. With this method you won’t lose any of your data, so be relax.
